Cualiva was born in 2020 thanks to our enemy of the moment. Yes, yes, the Covid-19. Luis, the architect of this project, was in China working as a soccer coach when he decided to pay an express visit to the family. "That's great!" -Luis thought- "I will take advantage of this week to spend time with my friends, recharge my batteries and eat everything I like the most." What he did not know is that a few days before his return flight the news about China would begin to fill the news.
Without paying attention to the recommendations of his mother, who as a good visionary knew that this Covid was more than it seemed, Luis left for Barajas. The mobile phone did not stop ringing all the way: it was his friends and colleagues from China telling him that the situation had worsened and that he was in serious doubt that he could return to work normally. So, suitcase in hand in front of the entrance gate to the airport, Luis found himself faced with a dilemma of these that changes your life. And, well, Luis' internal battle was won by Cualiva.
Cualiva is the result of many debates on the agricultural situation in Jaén. It is the desire to give a twist to the traditional way of working, in which small farmers work hard to get the most out of their production, but take the least benefit. The closure of a whole production cycle, from the care of the olive trees in the fields of the Sierra Sur de Jaén region to the treatment of the olives in the local mills, and their subsequent packaging and labeling.
It is the effort of many people who work with the illusion of creating a quality product: from the farmers who take care of the field with care throughout the year to the olive trees, who get up in the middle of winter to shake the olive trees. Cualiva is the manager of the oil mill who decides to bet on the ecological and the local, and also Luis, who risked staying in a town of 700 inhabitants with few opportunities instead of going back to work in a city with a population of 6,500 .000.
