During World War I, outside the town of Silly, a regiment of Scottish soldiers were stationed at the base of a regiment, who on their visits to the town began to demand a Scotch Ale. As this style did not belong to the local brewing tradition, the commander of the unit ordered to bring raw materials from England such as hops from Kent to help its production. With the necessary ingredients and the invaluable help of Scottish soldier Jack Peyne who ended up settling in Silly after the end of the war, Silly brasserie was able to brew a Scotch Ale with a Belgian accent, a collaboration born in difficult times with an excellent result.
