The origins of shortbread are very old ... Its recipe dates from the end of the 17th century. The Marquise de Sévigné was very fond of it, and so were we!

It is said that the Marquise de Sablé would have brought to the court of King Louis XIV small dry and round biscuits that the King's brother found very suitable to his liking… This is how these small biscuits were born and their names “small shortbread”. in homage to the Marquise de Sablé.

Since its success has not been denied, the simplicity of the recipe with very few ingredients combined with tasty ingredients and the good skills of the pastry chefs have made it an essential cookie in French pastry making.
