What is Protected Designation of Origin?
Protected Designation of Origin or P.D.O. is a regulated quality seal that guarantees that a product has been produced following a specific procedure in a specific region. This achieves exclusive and homogeneous quality in all products that share the same Designation of Origin. Regarding Iberian shoulders and hams, which come from animals that comply with the regulations for Iberian pigs, there are only 4 in the world.
- P. Guijuelo: located in Salamanca.
- P. Los Pedroches: from the province of Córdoba.
- P. Jabugo: from the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, in Huelva.
- P. Dehesa de Extremadura: where the one million hectares of dehesa in Extremadura are an ecological paradise for our pigs.
