Alión is a red wine belonging to the Ribera del Duero denomination of origin made from 100% tinta fina grapes by the prestigious Bodega Vega Sicilia.
Alión, with its pioneering, independent and contemporary character, is the fruit of the evolution of a family renowned for its great wines. This wine is acclaimed, distinguished and praised for the authenticity of its temperament, and today it symbolises a universal spirit with a clear vocation towards the future.
It is made from the tinto fino grape variety. The grapes are harvested by hand in 12 kg crates and immediately taken to the winery to undergo a rigorous selection process. Fermentations are carried out in temperature-controlled wooden vats to obtain a good polyphenolic extraction, which contributes to the generous colouring and firm structure that are part of the personality of this wine. It is then aged in new French oak Bordeaux barrels and cement vats for 12 to 14 months, depending on the characteristics of the vintage. These barrels come from the most prestigious Bordeaux firms, which represents a significant investment in oak. After their use at Alión, these barrels are not reused by the winery.
Once the wine is removed from the barrels, it is kept to rest in the bottle for at least 15 months, during which time the primary aromas of the fruit are fully integrated with the nuances provided by its delicate ageing process.
