Once in Santo Domingo, he began the great adventure of creating his own liquor company. Barcelo & Co was founded in 1930. Like all beginnings, these were tough. Julián went with his old Ford van promoting his high-quality rums throughout the country, but over time, his effort was rewarded when he saw Barceló & Co become a powerhouse in the national industry. Upon his death, his nephew Miguel Barceló took the helm of the company, continuing its growth and turning it into a fundamental pillar of the Dominican economy.
