Cava Codorniu Ars Collecta Blanc de Noirs Gran Reserva.

Cava made from the selection of vineyards where the varietals show their greatest potential and expressiveness. Pinot Noir, the predominant varietal from Costers del Segre with a continental climate, Trepat also from a continental climate in Conca de Barberà, and Xarel·lo from the central plain of Penedès with a Mediterranean climate. Night harvest in early August taking advantage of the cool temperature and avoiding oxidation of the grape aromas. Upon arrival, gentle pressing in a pneumatic press and the must fermented in small batches at 17 °C. After aging for 35 months at a constant temperature between the thick walls of our cellars, this Blanc de Noirs Gran Reserva has a long life ahead. The entire process we follow for the production of this cava aims to respect what the land gives us and achieve a fresh cava with high aging potential.

VINEYARD (VITICULTURE)

The 2015 harvest can perhaps be considered one of the best in recent years in our Costers del Segre vineyards, from where part of the Pinot Noir grapes for this cava come from. The weather was very favorable: low rainfall favored a very healthy harvest, and the cool temperatures at night and warm temperatures during the day allowed for optimal ripening. Although the start of the cycle was slightly delayed, the high temperatures during spring and summer regulated what could be considered a normal cycle. Cold nights, warm and sunny days, and the complete absence of rain allowed us to wait as long as possible to obtain red grapes with excellent phenolic ripening and very good aromatic intensity. Some vineyards were carefully selected for their qualitative potential and harvested at different times to seek more aromatic richness and complexity; therefore, they are very tasty and pleasant wines. In Conca de Barberà, the summer was very hot and ripening was fast. In mid-August, rainfall allowed the vines from the highest vineyards - where our Trepat comes from - to benefit. As for the Pinot Noir plots, the slate soil drainage allowed the plants to recover from the summer heat without affecting the grape's health. In Penedès, a hot summer provided intense Xarel·lo grapes, with an inspiring varietal definition whose fruit load remains even in the most aged cavas.
