Charles Bailly was born in 1896 in Nuits-Saint-Georges and left his mark on the history of his village. After being decorated with the Military Cross during the Second World War, he worked consecutively as a gymnastics instructor, honorary fire captain and winery worker. In his spare time, he used to cycle through the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyard to cultivate some of the Pinot Noir plots he owned.
