Cointreau is a French triple sec liqueur, elaborated with orange peels, created in the distillery of the family Cointreau in 1875, in the village of Saint-Barthélemy-d'anjou, in the French region of Pays de la Loire.

This liquor is of high graduation, obtained from the distillation of orange peels of varieties and diverse origins, both sweet and bitter, which are dried in the sun, are macerated and distilled in copper stills resulting in an oil Essential that gives the liquor an intense and very natural aroma, between sweet and sour.

Then, this essential oil is mixed with alcohol, water, sugar and spices, but it is difficult to know the percentage, because the secret of its elaboration and composition is kept for more than 130 years.
