CÔTE-RÔTIE :Planted on the hillsides by the Romans 24 centuries ago, this famous vineyard is divided between the Côte Brune upstream of the Reynard stream and the Côte Blonde downstream. Composed almost exclusively of Syrah, the Côte Brune gives a powerful and intense wine. The Côte Blonde asserts a greater subtlety thanks to the presence of Viognier which sublimates the Syrah. This appellation owes to Château d'Ampuis, this very beautiful legend: "The Lord of these places had two daughters, one dark as the night and the other blond as wheat. He endowed them by giving them each of his best slopes when they married. We have the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde as our inheritance."
