Variant of 100% organic cultivation, with rigorous quality control and treated with organic and mineral fertilizers. No additives or synthetic fertilizers are used for its cultivation.
Zespri's organic kiwis are grown in orchards that exclusively use organic and mineral fertilizers that do not contaminate the soil. Farmers combat plant pests and diseases with natural products such as compost or seaweed. Herbicides, insecticides, and other synthetic products are not used in these orchards. This way, Zespri Organic kiwis grow in complete harmony with nature.
It is a modern plant, recently introduced in European and American markets. It is cultivated in temperate climates with sufficient humidity, as it belongs to a subtropical crop type. Two basic varieties are distinguished:
- Green pulp kiwi: oval-shaped, brown skin with tiny hairs, emerald green pulp. Very refreshing sweet and sour taste.
- Gold kiwi: flattened shape, with a little crown at the end and smooth brown skin, golden-colored pulp. Sweet taste.
It stands out for its high fiber content and low calorie count. Additionally, it is rich in vitamin E and contains smaller amounts of vitamins C, B3, B6, B2, B1, and K, carbohydrates, and minerals such as potassium, iodine, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and sodium. It also contains folates, antioxidants, riboflavin, thiamine, and niacin. Due to its properties, it is beneficial for combating stress, has a diuretic and laxative effect, promotes intestinal transit and prevents constipation, combats hypertension and renal insufficiency, is beneficial during menopause and pregnancy, strengthens the immune system, has anti-inflammatory properties, helps prevent cardiovascular problems, and facilitates digestion.
When buying them, it is advisable not to choose ones that are too ripe, as soft kiwis tend to have a taste deficit or even a bad flavor.
