The first vintage of this wine, the flagship of the Licinia winery, was rated as 'the best red wine in Spain' in a blind tasting held at ENOFORUM 2009, where about 50 European winemakers and sommeliers evaluated more than 200 Spanish wine brands. Licinia is made with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in an optimal balance between quality and value. Not surprisingly, 9 out of the 12 Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid have Licinia on their flagship wine list. Description Licinia 2016 is an intense cherry-red wine, fresh and balsamic on the nose, and broad and voluminous on the palate, with DO Vinos de Madrid. Made with 50% Tempranillo, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 5% Merlot grapes from a 28ha organic vineyard located in the town of Morata de Tajuña (Madrid). Licinia Wines is a winery founded by a group of pioneers who share a vision for the immense potential of the vineyards in southeast Madrid. Víctor Algora and José Ramón Lisarrague, among other respected viticulturists in Spain, are the soul of Licinia Wines. The winery is located in the city of Morata, called "Licinia" during Roman times, situated in the DO Vinos de Madrid, one of the most prominent and interesting wine regions in Spain.
