Elaboration and aging
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is a blend of grapes from the Tempranillo (90%), Garnacha tinta (3%), Mazuelo (4%), and Graciano (4%) varieties. As for the elaboration, after destemming and gently crushing the clusters, the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, maceration takes place for 8 days. Once the fermentation process is complete, the solid parts of the grape are pressed in vertical presses to obtain a greater extraction of color and mature tannins that reside in the skins.
Finally, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva ages for 17 months in American oak barrels and 24 months in the bottle.
