The mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a biennial plant that belongs to the scrofulariaceae family.
The flowers of mullein are yellow,
have no peduncle and are grouped in a spike, which appears in the second year.

They form copse-shaped flowers that are very similar to the flowers of the mullein family

They form irregular cups about an inch wide, with five rounded petals inserted in woolly calyxes.
