Wonder lettuce is a variety of lettuce that we can consume all year round, as within this variety we have four seasons wonder lettuce that is harvested from December to March, and summer wonder lettuce that we have during the months of May to October, although the harvesting months of these lettuces may vary as the crops operate today.
The leaves of wonder lettuce that form a dense head are especially thick, large, curly, green in color that becomes more intense towards the edges where it finally has a reddish coloration (there are also some that do not have this coloration). It offers a very crunchy texture, the water is much more noticeable than in other lettuces, it is very juicy, sweet but with a slightly astringent touch. Like other lettuce varieties, its main component is water, up to 95%. Although the nutritional values of lettuces vary according to their variety and the soil in which they are grown, they practically offer the same benefits to our body, perhaps iceberg lettuce is the least nutritious.
Rich in folic acid, vitamin C and provitamin A, in addition to providing iron, phosphorus, potassium, amino acids, fiber, carbohydrates and even some protein.
It is common to make soups or hot dishes with lettuce, but personally I prefer to enjoy it raw, in salads.
Eating raw provides the body with properties that are lost during cooking, so it is very important to give this contribution to our body, with a raw diet both in winter and summer.
