El Sueño de Amado Garnacha Centenaria is a red wine made by Bodegas y Viñedos Ilurce with 100% Garnacha grapes from our centenary vineyard. Said wine is aged in French oak barrels.
History
On June 15, 1918, Amador (known as AMADO) and Julia, our grandparents, were getting married in Grávalos. After the harvest was harvested, they set off on their honeymoon to Valencia, specifically Requena, as they already knew that students were beginning to be trained in oenology, and they were eager for this training for some of their future children.
As a souvenir, they brought on the train a sheaf of vine shoots of local varieties, bobal and a white variety.
On his return from the trip, grandfather Amado grafted the vineyard, planted in 1916, from which today we can enjoy this wine. Today we can find in a corner of the vineyard, the bobal and white vines, his memory of his honeymoon.
Vineyard
From a single plot, "La Casilla de Cabezorroyo", a vineyard grafted in 1918 in the upper slopes of Yerga, in the municipality of Alfaro; by our grandfather Amador Escudero Perez. This vineyard is formed by old vines with tortuous arms that have grown in rigorous dryness, having productions between 4000-5000 Kg/Ha.
Making
The grapes are harvested manually, are deposited in 300 kilos capacity crates that immediately pass to a refrigerated container.
The harvest is refrigerated so that the grapes enter the tank between 4 and 6 ºC, a temperature that we maintain for a few days, achieving a cold pre-fermentation maceration to obtain the maximum extraction of color and aromas.
The wine is then transferred to new French oak barrels for aging. This wine has remained in barrel for twelve months.
This is a wine that has not undergone any type of treatment, which may present a slight sediment at the bottom of the bottle, a consequence of its natural evolution.
