The history of Bodega Contador begins in 1995, when winemaker and viticulturist Benjamín Romeo acquires a centuries-old cave beneath the castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja). In 1996, he produces the first vintage of his wine "La Cueva del Contador" there and starts buying vineyards for his winemaking project.
