75 cl Bottle

At Bodega Altolandon they have the highest Bobal grape variety in Spain -1,100 meters-. What makes this grape special is that it perfectly withstands drought, making it a product with great potential as it maintains acidity better. The vineyards from which the Bobal grapes are harvested to make this red wine are between 70 and 100 years old.

It is a wine with aromas of ripe red fruit and candies that offers a magnificent, elegant texture on the palate. With good tannins, they are subtle and give way to its refreshing acidity. It pairs well with meats, semi-cured cheeses, or rice dishes.

Made in Spain Gourmet always offers the Best of Spanish gastronomy.

Geology and soil: The vineyards are planted in sandy, clayey, and airy soils. The continental and Mediterranean climates merge, resulting in low precipitation and a wide temperature range. The dry wind from the Mediterranean is very beneficial for fruit ripening.

Winemaking: The first step is a short maceration of the skins with the juice to extract the aromas and shades of this grape variety. Fermentation takes place in 6000-liter stainless steel tanks - never with commercial yeast. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, it is pressed and placed in 300-liter French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation.

Pairing: At Made in Spain Gourmet, we recommend this wine especially with meats, but also with semi-cured goat and sheep cheeses, and with our rice dishes from Dehesa de la Albufera.

The Winery

Located in Landete, province of Cuenca, at an intermediate point between three provinces: Valencia, Cuenca, and Teruel, at 1100 meters above sea level, at the highest point. The estate has a total of 200 hectares and the winery is located in the middle of them. The philosophy of ALTOLANDON is to make quality wines and, therefore, quality grapes, hence they take great care of everything related to the vineyard from the moment of planting, choosing the most suitable varieties, rootstocks, and clones for their climate and each type of soil.

The highlands provide ideal conditions for high-quality production, giving the wines unique and special characteristics in the world. The wine comes from the grape, but the altitude at which it develops and the terroir from which it comes are fundamental for the final result.

Higher altitude means more and better solar radiation, resulting in a greater temperature range. Higher altitude means more tannins. Altitude provides a refreshing effect that increases acidity levels due to the wide temperature range. Accumulation of aromas and flavors.

These climatic conditions cause the grapes to undergo slow and prolonged ripening during the last months of the grape's gestation period. This results in tougher, smaller grapes with a higher proportion of skins than pulp, essential for red wines, as tannins are found in the skins. Wines from these grapes offer a wide variety of colors, aromas, and flavors and great complexity on the palate, making them more suitable for aging in barrels, as higher acidity and tannin content increase the possibility of obtaining age-worthy wines.

The grape reaches a high level of perfection. Result: wines with their own personality.

"Wine is made in the grape"

Organic Farming

At Altolandon, they are environmentally friendly, so all their plots are cultivated organically. In the highlands, the winds clean the air and the vegetation thrives thanks to the absence of pesticides. Additionally, soil fertility is stimulated only with natural fertilizers. The grapes must express themselves in the wine and show the characteristics of the place they come from, without makeup or additives.

Soils

The entire estate is separated according to varieties and types of soil. A study was conducted prior to planting to determine which varieties would be most suitable for each of the different types of soil, such as poor and unproductive soils, sandy loam, and rocky soils.

Each of the different soils imparts different "nuances" to the grapes, which give the wines particular characteristics of their place of origin. The philosophy of ALTOLANDON is
