Located in the northern area of Spain, La Rioja combines two climates: Mediterranean and Atlantic. These influences, together with a perfect terrain for vineyards, explain why Riojan wines are so special. Their freshness and elegance are recognized worldwide.

This aging wine is made from tempranillo and garnacha grapes from vineyards that are around 20 years old, mostly on trellises, selected from vineyards in various locations of the D.O.Ca. Rioja.

Tasting notes

With a high intensity of dark cherry red color, intense, bright with a high layer. On the nose it is complex and harmonious. With a rich and silky attack. Rounded in the mouth. Aftertaste: Long-lasting finish that highlights the blend of fruits and wood. In the mouth it is of great aromatic intensity, clean and complex with balsamic notes, ripe fruit, liqueur-like and toasty notes provided by the barrel aging.

The persistence in the mouth is prolonged, tasty and pleasant.

Geology and Soil

Tempranillo and Garnacha tinta. From vineyards about 20 years old. Located in the Sierra de Yerga, between 400-500 meters above sea level.

The soils are poor with a predominance of limey and alluvial soils with good drainage and depth, so that the roots can spread easily in search of food and moisture.

The climate is continental Mediterranean, with a marked Atlantic influence. After a dry cycle and high summer temperatures, the prolonged harvest of 2018 benefited from a time with few variations of importance at a general level to obtain a quality harvest, classified by the Regulatory Council as Good.

Pairing

At Made in Spain Gourmet, we recommend it with the concept of Appetizers and Drinking. Ideal with semi-cured cheese and cold cuts tapas. Roasted peppers. Stews with a potato base. Elaboration

Harvest: Mostly mechanized harvest, from mid-September to mid-October. Fermentation: 16 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.

12 months in barrel plus another 6 in bottle. Half of the barrels are French oak, the other half American oak. 20% of the barrels are new.
