Single Vineyard Wines are wines made from grapes from specific estates, usually of small size, selected for their soils with great character and a particular climate. In these estates, the natural environment and vineyards intertwine to produce authentic oenological gems.
At Murviedro, they have carefully chosen parcels located on hilltops and surrounded by forests, with the aim of creating wines with their own identity, exclusive and of limited production. These parcels represent special places where the combination of soil, climate, and natural environment come together to give rise to unique and distinctive wines.
Bodegas Murviedro recently introduced their most exclusive white wine: Vallejo Avenas Chardonnay, whose grapes come from a single parcel owned by the winery in the municipality of Venta del Moro, with D.O.P. Utiel Requena. It is a single vineyard wine aged in barrels.
The vineyard is located on a plateau of calcareous soil, a poor soil with great viticultural potential, characterized by the overlap of horizons of limestones and red clayey marls and fine sandstones formed in the Tertiary era. The continental climate, softened by the influences of the Mediterranean Sea, and the sustainable viticulture practices that pamper the vines end up shaping the elegant personality of this select white wine with aging.
The production of Vallejo Avenas Chardonnay 2018 is also particularly careful. The grapes undergo a very gentle pressing, the must ferments slowly in barrels at low temperature, and subsequently the wine is aged for 6 months in 500-liter French oak barrels with its fine lees. As a white wine for aging, its bottle aging refines the wine to be enjoyed over the next few years thanks to its low pH and excellent natural acidity.
