Viña de Martin Escolma is a white wine made by Luis Anxo Rodríguez, from Treizadura, Albariño, Lado and Torrontés grapes.

Luis Anxo Rodríguez created in 1988 a small winery of family tradition in Paixón, municipality of Arnoia. It has 2.7 hectares of vineyards spread over 29 plots.

Its most limited wines, the red and white Escolma, come from old plots and from a thorough selection during the harvest, which concludes with long ageing in barrel and bottle.

These wines are only produced in exceptional vintages and are released to the market when Luis considers them to be ready. Viña De Martin Escolma is a wine made with treixadura, albariño, torrontés and lado, from the oldest vines of the winery, with a yield of less than 1kg per vine, planted on hillsides on sandy-siliceous soils. The grapes are harvested by hand. Each variety is fermented separately with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels of different sizes. The wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is refined in the bottle for a minimum of 3 years before being released onto the market.

Tasting Notes of Viña de Martin Escolma

Appearance: Pale yellow and open, golden glints, dense tear.

Nose: Powerful and complex, citrus, white flower, dried apricot, fennel and tropical nuances (mango), stone fruit and a slight sensation of perfectly integrated wood.

Palate: Very elegant, fine, round, unctuous and ample, excellent sweetness and acidity, as complex as on the nose, starts fresh, continues mineral and honeyed and ends with a delicious bitter point.
