Silvia Vázquez is the founder of one of our mentta shops specialising in quality gourmet products. Gourmetea is a business that begins with the love of Spanish gastronomy and all the little treasures it hides. This is how Gourmetea was born and its great eagerness to bring Spanish gourmet products to every home.
Meet Gourmetea
The gastronomic trips that Silvia made around the peninsula made her realise that, once you return to your place of origin, it is very difficult and almost impossible to find in local shops those products that are characteristic of each region. This is when she founded Gourmetea, a business that seeks to discover the gastronomic delicacies hidden in each region. In addition, to bring it to the consumer online and at very affordable prices.
With a wide variety of products with designation of origin, Gourmetea has so much quality in its trade that many of its products have already won awards. Olavidia cheese, a Spanish product (originally from Jaén), was entered in the World’s Best Cheese competition in 2021, and was the world winner among more than 4,000 cheeses. Another great example of quality may be the torta del casar Virgen del Prado, ranked third best cheese in the world at the World Cheese Awards 2019. The value of these cheeses, the CEO stresses, lies fundamentally in the care taken at the artisan and production level.
But it is not only dairy products that play a leading role in this gourmet products shop, but also sausages and cured meats. Most of them come from the Jabugo area, but also from the mountains of Toledo, such as the wild boar and pepper pork sausages.
Silvia’s day-to-day work is based on carefully attending to all mentta‘s customers, but also on the constant search for new exquisite products. She travels around Asturias to visit canneries and small producers to expand her catalogue. Silvia identifies the needs of consumers and then looks for the best artisan products. Gourmetea’s consumers are exquisite palates that look for traditional flavours with new formulas, but above all, quality at a good price.
